DEVELOPING COMMITMENT

Commitment begins with CHOICE

Joshua 24:15 "And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."

“Man is not the creature of circumstances;

circumstances are the creatures of men.”

Benjamin Disraeli

Proper commitment depends upon Informed Choice

Familiarity of the positive breeds commitment

God wants us to know the truth of His will

Ephesians 5:17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

He has provided us with the information

Titus 2:11-12 11For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age,

As with Timothy He expects us to learn His truth

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

We must receive the information God has prepared for us!

1 Corinthians 2:14-15

14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one.

receive

1) to take with the hand to take hold of, to take up, to receive

Absolute Commitment requires APPLICATION of TRUTH

James 1:22-25 22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.

The Power of Commitment

Nothing can resist the human will that will stake

even it’s existence on it’s stated purpose.

Benjamin Disraeli

Acts 17:5-6 5 But the Jews who were not persuaded, becoming envious, took some of the evil men from the marketplace, and gathering a mob, set all the city in an uproar and attacked the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people. 6 But when they did not find them, they dragged Jason and some brethren to the rulers of the city, crying out, "These who have turned the world upside down have come here too.
