I’m sorry, Lord,
I can not give today.
Yesterday I spent Your money
For a recreation day!

The day before,
out to dinner we went.
I know You understand, Lord
Your money we had spent!

It was that awesome sale
For TV’s, VCR’s, and all
I had to use Your money Lord
My TV is just too small!

And of course it’s true,
I saw that movie show
Everyone talks about it, Lord
I used Your cash you know!

I know that what I have
You have given to me,
and I am real thankful
For the prosperity I see.

I wish that there was a little more,
then on Sundays I would give.
But I dip into Your money Lord
To have the life style that I live.

I know most preachers do without,
because the church can’t pay.
But I’ll do my share really soon,
just not this week or today!

I know it takes money, Lord,
to spread the Word for You.
I will do my share….
I just need a raise or two!

I know the church building
is in real bad need of repair,
but I have to buy a birthday gift.
You know Lord, that I care!

What’s that you say?
Lord, Sometimes I should do without?
Surely you don’t want me Lord
On fun things to miss out!

I do lay it by when I prosper
Each week when I am paid
You can see it all over town
The places where it’s laid!

But don’t you worry, Lord.
On me you can depend.
Just another week or two
And Your money I won’t spend!
