Add A Touch Of Lace

 

What do we know about lace? Multi Strand, Very Strong, Valuable, Beautiful, Delicate

 

What is your goal in raising a little girl? Do you have one? Have you thought about what you end creation will be?  How will she look? How will she talk?

What will she do for an income? What will she choose for a husband?  What will her relationship be with her family, her household?  How will she treat her husband? What will her relationship be with God?

 

WHEN YOU HOLD THE BABY IN YOUR ARMS, YOU ARE IN CONTROL! EVERY STEP THEY TAKE, NO MATTER HOW SMALL, IS A STEP OUT FROM UNDER YOUR CONTROL!  WHAT YOU DO FROM THE VERY BEGINNING WILL MANIFEST IT’S SELF IN THE END!

 

So lets start with our goal.  First, pick a picture of your daughter as a grown woman…….interesting the pictures you picked.

 

Now how are you going to get your daughter to look like that when she is grown? And what about the inside of her?  What does that look like?  Put 3 inner goals that you have for her on your sheet.

 

FOUNDATIONS…Build these strong- out of the best materials.  They are the essence of the lace  cotton/silk….The core of your daughters successful and happy existence on this earth.

SPIRITUAL:     

(Prov 22:6)  Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old he will not depart from it.

 

(Titus 2:3-5)  Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips, nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, {4} that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, {5} to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be dishonored.

 

(Prov 31:30)  Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, But a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised.

 

LADIES, BE AN EXAMPLE.. BE A WOMAN OF God IN EVERY SENSE, SHOW YOUR DAUGHTERS THE BEAUTY, SERENITY, LOVE, ENJOYMENT AND WISDOM THAT SERVING THE LORD BRINGS.  ADD A TOUCH OF LACE..

BE STRONG, AND BEAUTIFUL, AND GENTLE OR DELICATE IN YOUR TEACHING.  YOU CATCH MORE FLIES WITH HONEY THAN WITH VINEGAR.

 

                                                                                                                           PHYSICALLY:

 

 (Gen 2:22)  And the LORD God fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man. We are different than men. (checkers & tendons)

In the olympics, why do men run against men and not women ?

(Prov 31:17)  She girds herself with strength, And makes her arms strong. Strength can be measured many ways.. This woman is not weak and frail. She’s a doer. Not a whimp!

God designed you.  Be proud of your gender and enjoy being female.

 

EMOTIONALLY: SELF ESTEEM, STABLE, EQUIPPED WITH ALTERNATIVES                            choices for daily living. Educated with wisdom.

 

(Prov 31:25)  Strength and dignity are her clothing, And she smiles at the future.

 

(Prov 9:13)  The woman of folly is boisterous, She is naive, and knows nothing.

 

(Prov 11:16)  A gracious woman attains honor, And violent men attain riches.

 

(Prov 11:22)  As a ring of gold in a swine's snout, So is a beautiful woman who lacks discretion.

 

(Prov 21:9)  It is better to live in a corner of a roof, Than in a house shared with a contentious woman.

 

(1 Tim 2:15)  But women shall be preserved through the bearing of children if they continue in faith and love and sanctity with self-restraint.

 

(1 Pet 3:7)  You husbands likewise, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with a weaker vessel, since she is a woman; and grant her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.

 

 

HOW DO WE GET FROM THE START TO THE FINNISH?

 

EVERY MOMENT IS A TEACHING MOMENT……..

A)   YOU ARE THE EXAMPLE.  Your example Ideally should be one that your daughters and/ or granddaughters want to follow.

(2 Th 3:9)  not because we do not have the right to this, but in order to offer ourselves as a model for you, that you might follow our example.

 

(Titus 2:7-8)  in all things show yourself to be an example of good deeds, with purity in doctrine, dignified, {8} sound in speech which is beyond reproach, in order that the opponent may be put to shame, having nothing bad to say about us.

 

Do you……walk with God in happiness? Obey His commands without grumbling? Are you at peace? Do you obey your husband with the proper attitude?

 

IF YOUR EXAMPLE OF OBEYING God IS VIEWED BY YOUR LOVED ONES AS UNHAPPY OR A DRUDGERY OR MISERABLE, DO YOU REALLY THINK THAT THEY WILL WANT TO FOLLOW YOU? Everyone on the face of the earth just wants to be happy………… SHOW THEM HOW…… PAUL DID, EVEN IN PRISON! (Acts 16:25)  But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the prisoners were listening to them;

Ladies, your daughters have ears!  They know what you feel. They hear what you say!

 

YOU ARE A TEACHER ALWAYS…. BUT YOU MUST BE A FRIEND AT TIMES!

Some of our most powerful influences in life are our friends. I always wanted to be my daughters BEST FRIEND!

Girls love to talk.  You know this, I know this and so does God!  See verses on gossip and God's account of Eve and the serpent                                (Gen 3:1-5)  Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, "Indeed, has God said, 'You shall not eat from any tree of the garden'?" {2} And the woman said to the serpent, "From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; {3} but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, 'You shall not eat from it or touch it, lest you die.'" {4} And the serpent said to the woman, "You surely shall not die! {5} "For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."

WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF SHE WOULD HAVE TALKED THIS OVER WITH THE RIGHT PERSON/ FRIEND? To have a relationship with your daughter that brought her to you to help in her decision making before she makes a decision that could be wrong????  What would you pay for that??? Time is the cost.

 ( (1 Tim 3:11)  Women must likewise be dignified, not malicious gossips, but temperate, faithful in all things.

 

(1 Tim 5:13)  And at the same time they also learn to be idle, as they go around from house to house; and not merely idle, but also gossips and busybodies, talking about things not proper to mention.

 

 (Titus 2:3)  Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips, nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good,

 

In the book, “men are from mars, women are from venus”   the author points out that women vent through talking, they gather information through talking, they come to conclusions through talking. Men tend to be more, “internal thinkers” while women are more external.

 

Do you want to effect the way your daughter is thinking and rationalizing things?

Then learn to listen, not criticize,   talk, not lecture    enjoy, her growth, not stunt it. Laugh and giggle with her, reminisce with her, talk about your mistakes, things you’d do over the same and different.  THE KEY IS TO EQUIP HER WITH GOOD REASONING, SENSIBILITY, CONFIDENCE IN YOU AND YOUR ABILITY TO BE HER FRIEND AND INNER STRENGTH TO FOLLOW God.

(2 Tim 3:6-7)  For among them are those who enter into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses, {7} always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

 

   GIVE HER CHORES: YOU ARE THE INSTRUCTOR! RESPONSIBILITIES,  CRAFTS, PROJECTS,  WOMANLY  ENDEAVORS THAT TEACH HER TO BE A GODLY WOMAN.

MAKE A QUILT…COOK A MEAL FOR SOMEONE SICK……PAINT A PICTURE

SET YOUR HAIR…HEM A SKIRT… DO THE LAUNDRY… MAKE CURTAINS FOR HER ROOM…..WALL HANGINGS….. All these things build confidence and

equip your daughter for Godliness…..You can’t do any of these things?  Take some classes with your daughter or grand daughter! The old lessons are not obsolete , they are

just forgotten… (y2k and food)   (Christi and her quilt, now curtains & baby bedding)

 

 (Prov 31:24)  She makes linen garments and sells them, And supplies belts to the tradesmen.

(Prov 31:22)  She makes coverings for herself; Her clothing is fine linen and purple.

(Prov 31:20)  She extends her hand to the poor; And she stretches out her hands to the needy.

 

Your daughter will love a man some day.  Who will she choose? How will

she treat him? How will she build a relationship? YOU ARE HER COACH!

 

Her relationship with her father is the training ground. Does she respect her father? Does she obey her father? Does she do special things for her father? (cook him a favorite meal, spend time with him, jog with him?)

 

She needs to know how to treat a man…. Older women are to teach her…

You may or may not like your role in life as a woman, but whether or not you approve of it,   is unimportant where God is concerned.  He is God and in the end it is Him that we must obey and satisfy, NOT OURSELVES!!! DON’T CRIPPLE YOUR DAUGHTERS ABILITY TO OBEY BY ENCOURAGING A BAD ATTITUDE TOWARD MEN….

(Eccl 12:13-14)  The conclusion, when all has been heard, is : fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person. {14} For God will bring every act to judgment, everything  which is hidden, whether it is good or evil.

 

Teach your girls by example, conversation, scripture and practical application what it means to LOVE a man.

 

Girls need to know that when they marry, ( give ourselves to a man) we are in 2nd place where our  priorities are concerned…. For   he, our husbands come first.

(Eph 5:22-24)  Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. {23} For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body. {24} But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything.

Practice what you preach!

 

Sex and your daughter…YOU ARE THE EDUCATOR! When is the best time to teach them?  As early as you can!  What to teach them? Obedience to God, who sees all at all times and everywhere (Psa 139:7-8)  Where can I go from Thy Spirit? Or where can I flee from Thy presence? {8} If I ascend to heaven, Thou art there; If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, Thou art there. God sees and hears everything. No man is worth a girls separation from God!  Be a honest and as straight forward as you can.  The devil waits for ignorance and a weak character….A touch of lace, TEACH HER THAT THE TRUE BEAUTY OF A WOMAN IS IN THE STRENGTH OF HER CHARACTER, And her own free will choice to follow God's word in any and every circumstance. FYI….DID YOU KNOW THAT LITTLE GIRLS THINK THAT SEXY IS BEAUTY? Beauty is inside sexy is outside…….

 

Modesty and your daughter. YOU ARE THE GUIDE! Websters dictionary definition of modesty is holding a moderate estimation of oneself…. Not  excessive.

God says” (1 Pet 3:3-4)   And let not your adornment be merely external-- braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; {4} but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.

 

Our world says, be bold, be independent, push the limits that you might be successful…God says for a woman to be modest. Modest in her dress, modest in her activities and in her spirit.  Change the word to be humble if you like.                              (1 Pet 3:8)  To sum up, let all be harmonious, sympathetic, brotherly, kindhearted, and humble in spirit;

 

(1 Tim 2:9-10)  Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments; {10} but rather by means of good works, as befits women making a claim to godliness.

Trends are short lived. Classy is forever! It never goes out of style.

Short skirts, tight sweaters, short tops exposing bellie buttons etc. Are not more comfortable, they are sexy.  They are worn to make people look .  Proper clothing…. Modestly and discreetly.. How does sexy clothing fit into that definition?  If you are a mom, grandmother, sister in Christ, or just sister, and you   are wearing in appropriate

Clothing….shame on you!  Example example example

 

Be workers at home. YOU ARE A CAREER COUNCILOR! Are you encouraging your daughters to get a college degree?  What is ahead of them once they get it? What are you setting them up for?  Is it a job outside the home that takes them away from home and family? Or a life that can combine home and family and an income?  The woman of great price made money. (Prov 31:24)  She makes linen garments and sells them, And supplies belts to the tradesmen. But she did not do it at the expense of her family. Ladies you are an example! Set the example that your daughters might find it easy to obey God.

 

(Titus 2:5)  to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be dishonored.

 

Not all women can stay at home and earn an income, BUT, if we as mothers and examples and councilors show them the way, maybe we can remove some of the stumbling blocks that the devil uses to trap our daughters into lives that disobey God. EXAMPLES OF EDUCATION’S THAT CAN HELP A LADY WORK AT HOME, BESIDE HER CHILDREN… hair dresser, graphic artist, accountant, writer, caterer, councilor, music teacher…….How can a lady work at home if her career is: fireman, doctor, lawyer, bus driver, model, librarian?

 

Women need a way to make money as a safety net. Equip your girls with an education that is open ended…. Don’t box them in by encouraging them to make study choices that ONLY allow them to be in the world’s work force.

 

In closing, Ladies as you raise your daughters and your granddaughters, and touch the lives of other women….. ADD A TOUCH OF LACE…. No role on earth is as demanding physically, spiritually, or mentally…. No role is more rewarding

either.  Be strong, be beautiful, be intricate, be delicate, be a woman of God!
