Theistic Evolution Is Error

Evolution has been taught for many years. At the beginning, those who believed in God and the Bible rejected such teachings outright. However, with the passing of time and the endorsement of "scientists," many religious people have accepted the idea of theistic evolution. The theory is that God created through the evolutionary process. This false theory usually takes one of two forms; either the days of Genesis one are long spans of time or there are huge gaps of time between the days.

The days of Genesis one are to be understood as 24 hour days, more or less like ours. A simple reading of the text shows this to be true. For instance, it says, "So the evening and the morning were the first day" (Genesis 1:5).

Moses understood the days of creation to be literal days, not vast eons of time. When he recorded God's words from Sinai, he stated, "For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day" (Exodus 20:11). If the days were actually years (millions) then God and Moses deceived Israel (and the world).

Jesus understood the creation account of Genesis one to be a literal, straightforward record. When asked about marriage, the Lord said, "But from the beginning of the creation, God 'made them male and female'" (Mark 10:6). He placed Adam and Eve at the beginning of creation, not millions of years later. Did Jesus know what He was saying or was He ignorant of the truth? Did He purposely deceive man?

"Scientific" proof of millions of years of evolution is not reliable. Science has changed and keeps on changing; new discoveries are made, old ideas proven false, theories are revised. On the other hand, the Word of God has remained constant (Psalm 119:89). Therefore, to put our faith in "science" above Scripture would be foolish.
